In the 1881 census as Walter Luff aged 9, born in Thursley, Surrey, and living with his parents (Thomas and Tryphena), four brothers (Albert, Alfred, Harry and an unnamed infant but it must be Harvey) and sister (Amy) at Van Hurst, Elstead.
His father died in 1885 and his mother married William Corps in 1889.
In the 1911 census as Walter Luff aged 38, born in Thursley, Surrey, a pot man at a public house, and living with his wife (Kate), five daughters (Amelia Emma, Amy Grace, Doris Annie Maud, Laurie Marjorie, and Louisa Jessie) and a lodger (George Flodd aged 45, born in Bedford, Bedfordshire, single and a butcher) in four rooms at 40 Wye Street, Battersea SW, London.
