Notes

Entry in the IGI for the christening of Samuel Larkby on 10 August 1834 at Frensham, Surrey, parents Henry and Larkby and Maria.

His father died in 1846.

In the 1851 census as Stephen Larby aged 16, employed as a farm labourer, and a servant with John Loveland, his daughter Jane, grandson William and granddaughter Mercy (Massy) Baker at Hillside, Frensham.

Entry in the IGI for the marriage of Samuel Larby and Ann Winter on 20 February 1858 in Frensham, Surrey. There are entries for Samuel Larby and Ann Winter in the Register of Marriages in January-March 1858 in Farnham (2a 73).

In the 1861 census as Samual Labery (sic - on original as well as in index), aged 20 (26 would be more accurate, but it does look like 20 on the original), born in Frensham, employed asan agricultural labourer, and living with his wife, son (Thomas), daughter (Maria A), Maria Labery (who I assume was his mother), his father-in-law (Thomas Winter) and brother-in-law (George Winter) in Churt, Frensham, Surrey.

In the 1871 census as Samuel Carby (sic - in the index), aged 36, born in Frensham, employed as a farm labourer and living with his wife, three sons (Alfred, Samuel and Thomas), daughter (Mary) and Martha Carby (sic) who I think was his mother at Crosswater, Churt, Frensham.

In the 1881 census as Samual Larby aged 45, born in Churt, employed as a farm labourer and cow keeper, and living with his wife, three sons (Samuel, Stephen and Thomas), daughter (Anna M - was this Maria Ann?) at Crosswater, Churt.

There is an entry in the IGI for the marriage of Thomas Larby aged 26, father Samuel Larby, and Elizabeth Cole aged 26 on 7 November 1885 at Frensham, Surrey. There is also a submitted entry for Anna Marie Larby and Edward Marshall in 1885 which I assume was on the same date.

In the 1891 census as Samuel Larby aged 55, born in Surrey, employed as an agricultural labourer, and living with his wife, son (Samuel), grandson (Edward - not sure who his parents were), and a lodger Annie Larby (a widow aged 70, but I amm not sure who she was) at Crosswater, Churt.
