Karl Krumfuss was born 22 July 1915 in Oberkirchen in Obernkirchen.
I believe he had a head wound while fighting in the east - and he married Friedel who was his brother's fiancee in 1946, Heinrich being in Berlin.
They had two sons Mandred born just after the war and Reinhardt a few years later, both born in the farmhouse at Leith where they lived with Karl's father until he died, and brother Heinrich. My father, Lina and myself visited them in 1958, and I visited them in 1968 driving there in my A40 Somerset. The family came to Churt on several occasions sleeping in Sylvia's caravan on the grass outside Ingledene, and later on at the caravans at Simmondstone Farm. Lina and I visited them in 1976 driving there in my MG Midget. They subsequently moved to Jägerweg 4, Obernkichen, and Felicity and I visited them in 1993 on our drive to Vienna.
Their Golden Wedding which I attended on my return from Sweden via Copenhagen and Hannover was held on 9 November 1996 was held at the Church at 4:30 pm after a visit from the Burgermeister and a party at Grunen Kranz Gasthaus.
There is an entry in Schaumburger Zeiting translated as "Even a wedding can bring marriage ... Obernkirchen (sig). How life is like: A wedding can also be a "contact exchange" for other couples. This is what happened with Karl and Frieda Krumfuss, who can celebrate their diamond wedding this Thursday. In 1940, the niece of the birthday woman had her big day in East Prussia. Their bridegroom brought one of his soldier comrades to the wedding. He was able to impress very quickly as Tischherr the 19-year-old Frieda Klink."
He died on 23 December 2008.
