The first meeting of the creditors of Hubert Horsey, horticultural builder of Poole Road, Bournemouth, was held at the office of the Official Receiver (Mr. F Aston Dawes) on Friday. The unsecured liabilities amounted to £281 5s., and the assets were estinated by the debtor to produce £283 1s, while preferential claims represented £14 10s. leaving a deficit of £12 14s. The assets consisted chiefly of equities of redemption on mortgaged properties. The debtor attributed his failure to being pressed by creditors. - The usual summary order of administration was made.

A Bankrupt Misses the Train. - Re Herbert (sic) Horsey, of Westbourne, horticultural Builder. On this case being called, debtor failed to appear, and the case was adjorned sine die. Later on, however, debtor appeared, and then explained that he had missed the train. -The registrar accepted the explanation, but pointed out to Horsey what would have happened had the Court been closed before his arrival. -The statement of accounts showed gross liabilities amounting to £1,074 2s. of which £281 5s was expected to rank for dividend. The nett assets were put down at £268 11s, showing a deficiency of £12 14s. It appears the debtor, for the last 12 months, had been carrying on business at Westbourne as a horticutural builder, and prior to that he had carried on business at Marston Magna and Yeovil, while at an earlier period he had a business at Westbourne, and conducted a post office there. When he left Marston Magna he did not owe any money, but he might have owed a few pounds when he left Yeovil. When conducting the post office at Westbourne he got into difficulties, and made an arrangement with his creditors. In the course of further questioning by Mr. Dowden, debtor stated he insured his furniture, which he only valued in his statement as £12, for £300. He said that when the insurance agent came to him he told him he ought always to insure for double or treble the value, as in the case of fire, he would only get part of his claim. After further questions, debtor was allowed to pass.

In the 1901 census as Herbert (sic) Horsey aged 54, born in Leovil (sic - in the index), Somerset, a plasterer, and living with his wife (Clara), four sons (George, Harold, Henry, and Lionel), and three daughters (Alice, Eva and Nictoria) at 8 Coalman Street, Gillingham, Kent.

In the 1911 censusas Hubert Horsey aged 62, born in Yeovil, a master plasterer emoloyed in the building trade, and living with his wife (Clara), two sons (George and Harold), and two daughters (Alice and Daisy) in three rooms at 67 Hyde Park Road, Southsea, Hampshire.

I cannot locate him in the 1921 census.
