Herbert W Horwill (M.A., Oxon. & Lond.), a journalist of 31 The Avenue Kew Gardens was a referee in addition to her father. There is a letter dated 13 January 1916 from Margaret A Gilliland of Haberdashers' Aske's Girls School, Greffield Road, Acton W addressed to Miss Tuke "Two pupils about whom I wrote to you - Miss Honey [...] are so anxious to consult you about their College course that they are venturing to call upon you, even without appointment tomorrow", and another dated 14th July 1919 addressed to Miss Rhys "I am glad to recommend Miss Mary K. B. Honey for a post in the Belvedere School. I think very highly of Miss Honey. She is a very capable Student, with a pleasant manner and appearence. She sets a really high standard before herself in her work and in her conduct generally and she is thoughtful and considerate [...] Yours very truly [unsigned] Principal". A report form 1918-19 at Bedord College for Women for Pedagogy gave her C for Michaelmas, B- for Lent and B for Easter. There is a letter dated 26 March 1921 from Leadengate, Croyde, Braunton, Devon to Miss Tuke thanking her for her suggestion for applying for a post at Mount Holyoke College Massachusetts but a letter from Mount Holyoke College dated 17 April 1921 indicates she was not accepted. Another letter dated 13 December 1929 states she was a full time student at Bedford College from January 1916 to June 1919 and granted a B.A. Honours in English (London) in 1918 but had to complete three years training for an internal degree so read for the London Teacher's Diploma which she obtained in July 1919. Another letter dated 19 December 1929 from the County School for Girls, Ramsgate indicates it was Second Class.
