In the 1851 census as Charles Growcock (sic - on the original) aged 9, born in North Rauceby, Lincolnshire, and living with his parents (Isaac and Eliza), three brothers (James, Timothy and Robert) and four sisters (Ann, Betsy, Charlotte and Mary) in Riverside, Billinghay, Lincolnshire.

I cannot identify him in the 1861 census but he was not living with his parents - there is a Charles Grocock aged 18, born in Swinehead, Lincolnshire and an agricultural labourer lodging in Holbeach, Lincolnshire. The image is nearly illegible.

Married in the Parish Church according to the Rites and Ceremonies of the Established Church after Banns [...] in the Presence of us John Backhouse and Jane Maria Bradley".

In the 1871 census as Charles Gracock (sic - on the original) aged 28, born in North Rauceby, Lincolnshire, a schoolmaster, and living with his wife (Mary J) in Billinghay Village, Lincolnshire.

His first son was born in Billinghay in 1872, and last three sons in Peckham from 1875 to 1878.

In the 1881 census as Charles Gracock (sic - in the index, Grocock on the original) aged 38, born in Rauceby, Lincolnshire, a teaching and writing master and living with his wife (Mary Jane), three sons (Arthur, Edgar Charles and Harold Backhouse) and two lodgers (Shatders aged 62, born in Holt Town ?, Norfolk, and a tea traveller, and Henry Cloid Bradley aged 36, born in Ipswich, Suffolk and a brokers clerk - a Henry Cloid Bradley Shalders was born in Ipswich in 1842) at 41 Hanover Street, Camberwell, London. The image is nearly illegible.

Death of Charles Grocock in FreeBMD in April-June 1890 aged 42 in Camberwell (1d 440). His age should be 48 - his wife was a widow living at 47 Lyndhurst Road, Camberwell in the 1891 census.
