In the 1861 census as Martha Fulick (sic - on the original) aged 2, born in Headley, Hampshire, and living with her parents (Henry and Martha), two brothers (Samuell and William) and sister (Mary Ann) at Barford, Headley, Hampshire (the entry follows one for Simondstone).

The family story is that she drowned in the pond between Copse Cottage and Field House having fallen off the path over the dam. The Surrey/Hampshire (Churt/Headley) border runs through the middle of this pond along the old stream bed. Some say it was not an accident.
