Notes

Christening of Maria Fullick in the IGI on 18 February 1827 in Widley, Hampshire, parents John Fullick and Hannah.

In the 1841 census as Maria Fallick (sic) aged 14, born in Hampshire and living with John (her father?), Hannah (her mother?), Edward, George, James and William (her brothers?) and Elizabeth Dillaway (her grandmother?) in East Steet, Cosham, Hampshire.

Entry in Portsea, Portmouth and Southsea Marriages for the marriage of Maria Fullick, a spinster of full age employed as a dressmaker and living in Charlotte St., Landport to James Henry Croucher on 5 July 1849 by banns at All Saints, Portsea. Her father was John Fullick, a ? master (I assume basket maker) and was in the presence of Joseph Page and Jane Fullick who I assume was her sister. There is also an entry in FreeBMD for the marriage of Maria Fullick and James Henry Croucher in July-September 1849 in Portsea Island (7 223).

In the 1851 census as Maria Croucher aged 24, born in Cotham (sic), married but not with her husband who I assume was at sea, no stated employment, and living her parents (John and Hannah Fallick - sic) and brother (Edward Fallick - sic) next to the End of the World Hotel, Cosham, Widley, Hampshire.

In the 1861 census as Marin (sic) Croucher aged 34, born in Cosham, married but not living with her husband (he was at sea), employed as a dressmaker, and living with her son (John W) and daughter (Maria) at East Cosham, Widley, Hampshire (her two other daughters Eliza J and Rosa were living with her parents, also in East Cosham).

In the 1871 census as Maria Cronelier (sic) aged 44, born in Widley, and living with her husband (James Hy), and three daughters (Clara, Laura and Maria) at East Street, Widley, Hampshire (her father and family were living next door).

Her husband died in 1878.

In the 1881 census as Maria Croucher aged 54, born in Cosham, widowed, no stated employment and living with her two unmarried daughters (Rose and Laura) who also had no stated employment at 10 Victoria Terrace, Widley, Hampshire.

In the 1891 census as Maria Croucher aged 64, born in Cotham (sic), widowed, and living on her own means with her four unmarried daughters (Clara, Maria, Rosa and Saura (sic - Laura)) who had no stated employment and grandson (Henry C Sansom, son of Eliza) at Castle Street, Portchester, Hampshire.

Entry in FreeBMD for the death of Maria Croucher in April-June 1899 aged 72 in Fareham (2b 364) which included Portchester.

Widley, Cosham, Fratton, Landport, Portsea and Portchester are all within modern Portsmouth.

Relationship

Maria Fullick was my first cousin three times removed.
