Notes

Entry for the christening of James Fullick in the IGI on 16 April 1837 in Headley, Hampshire, parents Henry Fullick and Sarah.

The same information is in Headley Baptisms adding he was born at Barford and his father was a labourer.

Entry for James Fullick in Ancestral File gives his birth in about 1838 in Selborne, Hants, and his marriage to Phoebe Christmas on 26 October 1861 in Selborne, Hampshire.

In the 1841 census as James Fullick aged 4, born in Hampshire, and living with his parents (Henry and Sarah), two brothers (George and Henry), and four sisters (Charlotte, Eliza, Maria, and Sarah) at Barford, Headley, Hampshire.

In the Headley 1851 Census as James Fullick aged 14, born in Headley, employed as an agricultural labourer, and living with his mother (Sarah), two brothers (George and Henry), and four sisters (Eliza, Fanny, Jane and Sarah) and a cousin (Harriet Fullick) at Barford, Headley, Hampshire. His mother is married but head of the household - I believe his father is Henry Fedrick aged 52, born in Headley, an agricultural labourer and a criminal prisoner at Hampshire County Prison in Winchester.

In the 1861 census as James Fulick (sic - on the original), aged 24, born in Headley, unmarried, employed as an agricultural labourer, and living with his parents (Henry and Sarah) and two sisters (Fanny and Jame) at Barford, Headley (his brother Henry and his family were living next door).

Marriage of James Fullick and Phoebe Christmas in FreeBMD in October-December 1861 in Alton (2c 277).

The marriage of James Fullick and Phoebe Christmas is in a submitted entry in the IGI on 26 October 1861 in Selborne, Hampshire, and the same information is in the Ancestral and Pedigree Resource Files.

George and Arthur James were christened at Frensham, the remaing children at Headley when he was living at Hearn.

In the 1871 census as James Fulleck (sic - in the index, Fullick on the original), aged 35, born in Headley, employed as an agricultural labourer, and living with his wife (Phoebe), four sons (Arthur, Albert , George, and William) and daughter (Ann E) in Bacons Lane, Headley. (Where was this? Was it Field House? It is between Plaster Hill and Hearne in the census, but there are no houses in Bacon Lane.) Note that the Headley version of this census incorrectly gives his birth in Selborne.

On a copy of Entry of Birth number 280 in Binstead in 1871, he was the father of Ann Ellen, and was a shepherd.

In the 1881 Census as James Fullick, aged 39 (should have been 44), born in Headley, employed as a shepherd, and living with his wife (Pheoba), six sons (Albert, Arthur, George, Henry, Walter and William) and three daughters (Ann Ellen, Matilda and Maud) at Hearne, Headley.

Although the previous children were born at Hearn, Kate was living at Moor House Cottage when she was christened.

In the 1891 Census as James Tullock (sic - on the original) aged 55, born in Headley, employed as an agricultural labourer, and living with his wife (Rhoby), four sons (Henry, John, Walter and William), and four daughters (Anne, Kate, Louisa and Maud) in four rooms at Mount Pleasant?, Hewshott Hill, Bramshott, Hampshire. (I cannot find any other information regarding Louisa except she was born at the Alton Union workhouse.

In the 1901 Census as James Fullick, aged 63, born in Headley, employed as a farm cowman, and living with his wife (Phoebe) and daughter (Kate) at Hammer, Bramshott, Hampshire. This is either the same as or very close to the 1891 address.

Death of James Fullick in FreeBMD in July-September 1904 aged 67 in Petersfield (2c 83) which included Bramshott.

In a private communication Jenny Crawford writes "Another of Henry's son's James married Phoebe Christmas & Rev. Laverty made a note in his records that they 'had a knack of locking up children in cottage' They were also fined for the non-attendance at school of one of the children."

Shireley Dave has an entry in Ancestry Public Member Trees for James Fullick, a daughter of Henry Fullick and Sarah Groves born about 1850, and another entry giving him as a son born on 16 April 1837 in Headley, Hampshire, all the children, but a second marriage with three more children and his death in September 1904. Andrea Hay has his birth on 16 April 1837 in Headley, parents Henry Fullick and Sarah Groves, but gives his death at Hearne, Headley. Matthew Savill gives all the correct information but does not include his daughter Louisa.
