Christening of Edward Dutton in the IGI on 10 June 1802 in Dartford, Kent, parents William Dutton and Elizabeth.
In the 1841 census as Edwd Dutton aged 35 (rounded down to the nearest multiple of 5), born in Kent, and living with Mary (his wife?), Edward, Thomas and William (his sons?) and Elizabeth and Mary (his daughters?) in Church Steet, Deptford St Paul, Kent.
There is an entry in FreeBMD for the death of Edward Dutton in January-March 1845 in Greenwich (5 163).
There are several queries re the children. Thomas Warner was christened the son of Edward Dutton and Mary Warner - hence his wife's surname. Edward Warner comes from the christening of his daughter Mary Ann. Hence I have assumed that the Mary Warner Dutton who died in 1852 is his daughter. However the Mary who was christened in 1832, daughter of Edward Dutton and Mary Warner has the middle name Elizabeth, and I cannot find an entry in the 1851 census for her. There is a christening for William Dutton in 1837, parents Edwd Dutton and Mary Marner, but in the 1841 census his age is given as 7 months.
In the 1841 census his wife Mary Dutton was aged 35 (rounded down to the nearest multiple of 5), and not born in Kent. In the 1851 census Mary Dutton was aged 50, born in Wapping, Middlesex, a widow, employed as a monthly nurse, and living with her son (Thomas) at 24 Giffin Street, Deptford St Paul (off Church St A2209 midway between A2 and A200). The only entry in the IGI for Mary Warner is for one born on 12 March 1800, parents James and Mary Warner, and christened on 11 April 1800 at Saint Paul, Deptford, Kent, but this conflicts with the census entries.
There is an entry in FreeBMD for the death of Mary Dutton in April- June 1860 in Greenwich (1d 346).
Edward Dutton was the great granduncle of Joseph Garibaldi Dutton, the husband of my great aunt Mary Ann Payne.
