Alfred Edward Croucher was born in c 1875 in London, England, parents John James Croucher and Charlotte Rosena Baptist. He emigrated to Australia with his mother some time after 1884 to join his father. He married Lucy Hollis on 31 March 1896 in Leichhardt, Sydney. They had no children. For the first 20 years of their marriage they lived in Leichhardt, mostly in Allen Street, and Alfred's occupation was listed either as Van Proprietor or Fuel Merchant. In the 1920's they moved to Dee Why where they ran an Estate Agency and a Drapery shop. He died on 26 July 1937.
