Birth of Albert Augustus Croucher in FreeBMD in July-September 1842 in Christchurch (8 157). However his name is Alfred in all the census entries.

His two sisters were registered in October-December 1845 and October-December 1848 in Christchurch.

In the 1851 census as Alfred Croucher aged 8, born in Christchurch, and living with his parents (Authur and Louisa), two brothers (Henry and Nanie), sister (Katherine), cousin (Ann Nitton aged 24, born in Wales, married and a needlewoman) and her two daughters (Elizabeth and Mary both aged 6 and born in Portsmouth) at Hydepark Corner, Landport, Portsea.

His sister was registered in January-March 1854 in Portsea Island.

Entry in National Archives ADM 139 Admiralty: Royal Navy Continuous Service Engagement Books for Albert Augustus Croucher born 31 August 1842 in Christchurch, Hampshire volunteered 31 August 1860.

In the 1861 census as Alfred A Croucher aged 18 and 8 months, born in Portsea, Hampshire, single, a Ordinary Seaman 2nd class, and in the Royal Navy on HMS Scourge (six guns) at Dock Yard Creek, Malta.

Marriage of Albert Augustus Croucher and Elizabeth Harries Columbine Nutcher in FreeBMD in October-December 1862 in Alverstoke (2B 873).

His son was baptised 4 November 1863 at Alverstoke, Elson when he was a stoker on HMS Asia living in Hardway and registered in October-December 1863, and his second son was registered in January-March 1871 in Alverstoke.

I cannot locate an entry in the 1871 census. However his wife (Elizabeth) was living with her two sons (Arthur and John) at Kingshead, Brockhurst, Alverstoke, Hampshire.

In the 1881 census as Alfred A Croucher aged 38, born in Christchurch, Hampshire, a beer retailer and pensioner, and living with his wife (Elizabeth H C), son (John), and two visitors (John English aged 20 and born in Belfast, and John Kerslake aged 22 and born in Bradford, both single and Royal Navy seaman) at the Sea Horse, 152 Queen Street, Portsea, Hampshire.

In the 1891 census as Alfred Croucher aged 48, employed as a general labourer in the dockyard, and living with his wife (Elizabeth) and mother-in-law (Sarah Nutcher) at 29 Victoria Street, Kingston, Portsea, Hampshire.

In the 1901 census as Alfred Poncher (sic - in the index, Croucher on the original) aged 58, born in Christchurch, Ireland (sic - implied on the original), a moulders labourer, and living with his wife (Elizabeth) and son (Arthur) at 29 Victoria Street, Portsea and Landport, Portsmouth, Hampshire. Note his son is given as 12, but this is almost certainly not his son).

In the 1911 census as Albert Agustus (sic) Croucher aged 68, born in Christ Church, Hampshire, a pensioner RN. and and living with his wife (Elizabeth) in four rooms at 106 Twyford Avenue, Stamshaw, Portsmouth.

His wife died in January-March 1918 in Portsmouth.

I cannot locate him in the 1921 census.
