In the 1861 census as William Cope aged 11, born in Blackwell, Middlesex, and living with his parents (Thomas and Maria), brother (Richard), two sisters (Harriet and Maria), a visitor (Louisa Shadrake aged 1, and born in Blackwell, Middlesex) and two lodgers (Mary Grimble aged 40, born in Poplar, Middlesex, married and a laundress, and Joseph Grimble aged 9, both born in Poplar, Middlesex) at 48 Regent Street, Poplar, Middlesex.
