I cannot locate him in the 1851 or 1861 censuses - he was not living with his parents and family.

Marriage of Edward Cook and Jane Swan Thompson in FreeBMD in October-December 1867 in Newcastle T. (10b 236).

His son was born in East Brunton in 1867 and daughter in Elswick, both in Northumberland, in 1869.

In the 1871 census as Edward Cooke (sic) aged 38, born in Stradbrook, Suffolk, a coachman, and living with his wife (Jane A), son (Edward L) and daughter (Ann E) in Coachmans Box, Ford Hall, Ford, Durham.

His son was born in Sunderland in 1872, daughter in Beamish in 1875 and daughter in Chester le Street in 1877.

In the 1881 census as Edward Cooke (sic - on the original) aged 35, born in Shatlbrooke (sic), no stated employment but his wife is a coachman!, and living with his wife (Jane S), son (William S), and three daughters (Agnes M, Ann E and Mary A) in Beamish, Urpeth, Durham.

In the 1891 census as Edward Cook aged 45, born in Stradbroke, Suffolk, Suffolk, a coachman, and living with his wife (Jane S), daughter (Ann E) and son (William S) at Beamish Office, Urpeth, Durham.

In the 1901 census as Edward Cook aged 55, born in Stradbrook, Suffolk, a general cartman, and living with his wife (Jane Swan), son (William Salby), daughter (Mary Adelaide), and a servant (Lily Morton (corrected to Murton) aged 13, and born in Newcastle Upon Tyne) at 16 Beamish Street, Stanley, Durham.

His wife died in Lanchester in 1909.

In the 1911 census as Edward Cook aged 64, born in Stradbrook, Suffolk, widowed, a farmer, married for 44 years with six children four still living, and living with his son (William), daughter (Adelarde), an assistant dairy worker (William Prond aged 36, born in Helton Collery, Durham and single) and a servant (Mary Lynch aged 16, born in Armagh, Ireland and single) in five rooms at Tanford Lane Farm, Tamfield, Durham, Co Durham.
