In the 1891 census as Thomas Clark aged 4, born in Stahon (sic - in the index, Station on the original) Town, Durham, and living with his parents (James and Hannah), two brothers (James Q and Stephen), three half-brothers (John, Kay and Ralph Dixon) and three sisters (Cornelia and Hannah and half-sister (Mary Dixon) in four rooms at 128 Allendale Cottages, Medomsley, Durham. All the children are listed with the surname Clark in the index, but Kay, John, Mary and Ralph have Dixon on the original.
In the 1901 census as Thomas Clark aged 14, born in Station Town, Durham, a coal miner hewer, and living with his parents (James and Hannah), brother (Stephen), two half-brothers (John W and Ralph Dixon), sister (Cornelia), married half-sister (Mary Garnett), nephew (J W T Jannett (Garnett)), a brother in the index (James Stephens, but must be his nephew?), a lodger (John Stephens - uncle?) and a visitor (Janet Robinson aged 8 and born in Brandon, Durham) in four rooms at 10 Louisa Terrace, Stanley, Durham.
