"An Account of the Marriages Wh: happened at Cranley in the year 1736 [...] Marriages att Cranley J738 [...] Jonas Chitty and Anne Lee both of this Parish, were married June the 25th 1738 ewith Banns".
All the children were christened in Cranleigh, his name being spelt Iones in the case of Anne, and the surname being spelt Chitty in all cases. The mother's name, Anne, is only given for Jonas and James. However the will (below) also mentions a daughter Sarah, and the only possible christening for her is the daughter of Jones Chitty in Shere in 1746 (which fills a gap in the other christenings). The will also mentions Henry, but I can find no christening for him, but he was most likely born about 1743.

His wife died in Cranleigh in 1778.

Community Trees IndexJohn Nichols had an entry on a website for Jonas Chitty who married Ann Lee on 25 June 1738 in Cranley, Surrey, had nine children (two entries for Hannah, the first of which has the same christening date as George), and died in 1799, and the above will.
Cranley is the old spelling of Cranleigh - it was changed by the Post Office in 1864 to prevent confusion with Crawley.
Jonas Chitty was Felicity's fifth great grandfather.
