Birth of Stephen Arthur Chalcraft in FreeBMD in October-December 1862 in Farnbro (2a 101). Farnborough did not include the Liphook/Steep area so I assume he was born in Bramshott and the family moved prior to his fathers death in 1865.

Christening of Stephen Arthur Chalcraft in the IGI on 23 March 1867 in Steep, Hampshire, parents Edward and Mary Chalcraft.

In the 1871 census as Arthur Chalcraft aged 8, born in Liphoote, Hampshire, and living with his widowed mother (Mary), brother (James),two sisters (Jane and Mary), and two servants (Caroline Ball aged 48 and born in Rofase, Sussex and Mary Rogers aged 17 and born in East Meon, Hampshire, both single) in Stroud, Steep, Hampshire. Stroud is on A272 just west of new A3 bypass.

In the 1881 census as Stephen A Chalcraft aged 18, born in Liphook, Hampshire, single, an estate agent's clerk, and boarding with Lucretia Wakley (aged 59, born in St Johns Winchester, widowed and no stated employment) and her neice (Agnes Robinson aged 15 and born in St Thomas Winchester) at 2 St James Villas, Winchester.

I cannot find him in the 1891 census.

In the 1901 census as Stephen A Chalcraft aged 38, born in Liphook, Hampshire, single, a corn merchant, and boarding with William Gilbert (aged 57, born in Farnham, Surrey and manager of a corn business), his wife (Charlotte aged 50 and born in Chertsey, Surrey), his stepdaughter (Adelina Petitt aged 29, born in Fitzworth, London, single and no stated employment), and two servants (Sarah F Wright aged 19 - 17 on the original, born in Aldershot, Hampshire and a cook, and Fanny Stowold corrected to Stovold aged 10 - 16 on the original, born in Charles Hill, Surrey, and housemaid) at Manor House, Compton, Frensham, Farnham, Surrey.

"1901 Marriage solemnized at Holy Trinity Tulse Hill in the Parish of Lambeth in the County of London No. 4 Sept 25th 1901 Stephen Arthur Chalcraft aged 39, a bachelor, employed as a corn merchant of Manor House, Farnham, father Edward Chalcraft (deceased), a farmer, and Bertha Messenger aged 35, a spinster of 30 Rownola? Road, father William Messenger (deceased), an estate agent. Married in the Parish Church according to the Rites and Ceremonies of the Established Church by Licence" .

In the 1911 census as Stephen Arthur Chalcraft aged 48, born in Liphook, Hampshire, a foreman, box stores at a match factory, and living with his wife (Bertha Chalcraft) in 5 rooms at 40 York Road, Forest Gate, E, West Ham, Essex.

Entry in Ancestry London, England, Electoral Registers, 1832-1965 for Stephen Arthur Chalcraft living at 141 Barcombe Avenue SW2 Wandsworth in 1918. Bertha Chalcraft (wife?) was living at the same address.

Death of Stephen A Chalcraft in FreeBMD in January-March 1942 aged 79 in Petersfield (2c 326).
