Christening of John Chalcraft in the IGI on 2 January 1828 in Bramshot, Hampshire, parents Edward and Elizabeth Chalcraft.

His sister was born in Bramshot in 1831. His father died in Bramshott in 1840.

In the 1841 census as John Chalcraft aged 13, born in Hampshire and at a scool at Habem House, Rogate, Sussex (Habem is just south of Rogate on the River Rother). There some 19 other pupils, three female servants, and five people in charge.

In the 1851 census as John Chalcraft aged 23, born in Bramshott, Hampshire, single, a gent, and living with his widowed mother (Elizabeth), sister (Holland), a lodger (Elie Jackson aged 28, born in Bermondsey, Surrey, single and a governess) and two servants (Mary Dewyer aged 17 and born in Fernhurst, Sussex, and Martha Bush aged 15 and born in Headley, Surrey) in Bramshott, Hampshire.

Death of John Chalcraft in FreeBMD in April-June 1851 in Farnbro (4 109) which included Bramshott.

Entry in National Archives for the Will of John Chalcraft, Gentleman of Bramshott, Hampshire, dated on 04 October 1851.
