I cannot locate a registration for his birth - different entries give different dates and locations. He may have been the John George Car born in April-June 1868 in Edmonton (3A 165).

Matilda was the daughter of Thomas and Amelia Powis baptised 29 September 1875 at St. Philip Stepney. His father Alexander married Amelia Powis in Bethnal Green in July-September 1889.
