His mother died in Glendale in October-December 1904.
I cannot locate him in the 1911 census but he was not living with his widowed father who was living in Pawston Mindrum, Northumberland, five miles south of Coldstream.
In the 1921 census as John Brown born in Coldstream, Berwickshire, Scotland in 1895 and living with Thomas Brown (father?), and George, James and Thomas Brown (brothers?) in Carham, Glendale, Northumberland.

His wife died on 30 July 1958 at The High Street, Coldstream when he was a postman.
