I qualified from the University of the West of England, Bristol in 2006 with a BSc Hons degree in Physiotherapy. Since qualifying I have worked in a variety of clinical areas both within the NHS and through my own private Physiotherapy and Pilates work. I am now particularly experienced working with older people, pregnant and postnatal women. I initially enjoyed attending Pilates classes for many years, and was keen to learn how to teach the exercises myself and how to implement them within my work as a Physiotherapist. I completed modified Pilates training for Physiotherapists with the APPI, becoming a certified Pilates instructor. I have enjoyed teaching matwork classes as well as using Pilates on a one to one basis for the last 7 years. I have found Pilates to be diverse and beneficial for people presenting with a wide range of problems and conditions. I am qualified to work with those with back pain or following spinal surgery. I have also completed Pilates for Osteoporosis training which allows me to safely modify and deliver exercise classes for people with Osteoporosis, and for those wishing to improve their standing balance. My most recent Pilates training has been teaching Pilates to children and teens, which I have since provided at the school my children attend. I have attended both Pilates and Physiotherapy courses to enable me to work with pregnant and postnatal ladies, an area which I really enjoy and feel is so important to have available for women. Working with this client group within Pilates really inspired me to further learning and development of my skills towards a Women’s Health Physiotherapy specialism, so that I am now able to fully assess and treat ladies with a range of pelvic health conditions. This now is my main focus and passion within Physiotherapy, and really does go hand in hand with Pilates. I myself can testify to the benefits of both Pilates and pelvic health physiotherapy, as combined they really helped me to regain core stability and function following pregnancy and the birth of my three children. I now feel stronger than ever before.

Kirsty Ann Beale was the wife of Andrew Neil Jesty, son of Nicholas Jesty, husband of Lynn M Baker, my half fourth cousin.
