His father was a stable man living with James and Elizabeth Yeomans, their son (George), a servant (Eliza Doyle) and another stable man (Thomas Buff).

In the 1861 census as Henry Beale aged 18, born in St Geo the Martyr, Middlesex, single, a stableman, and living with his parents (William and Elmira), two brothers (George and William) and sister (Maria) at 42 Great Osmond Yard, Holborn St George the Martyr, Middesex.
