The IGI has an entry for the christening of Albert Baker, parents John and Ann Baker, on 23 May 1841 at Frensham. There is however no record of the marriage of John and Ann, and later censuses indicate that Albert was the son of his brother William and Ann Phillips.
In the 1851 census as John Baker aged 40, born in Headley, single, employed as a farmer and a farmer of 49 acres employing three labourers, and visting George Baker (his widowed father?), Henry and William (brothers?), Sarah (sister?), Albert (nephew? but shown as the son of George) and two servants (William Mills aged 23, unmarried and employed as an agricultural labourer and Martha Shrube (sic - Shrub on the original) aged 16 and born in Headley (my great gandmother) at Simmondstone, Headley, Hampshire.

In the 1871 census as John Baker aged 62, born in Headley, Hampshire, a retired farmer and living with his wife (Mary) and a servant (Ann Mills aged 14 and born in Binstead, Hampshire) at the cottages in the green, Bentley, Hampshire.
In the 1881 census as John Baker aged 72, born in Headley, Hampshire, a farmer of 2.5 acres, and living with his wife (Mary), a visitor (Sarah Hatch aged 66, born in Headley, Hampshire and widowed), and a servant (Ellen Kalkner aged 33, born in Farnham, Surrey) at 83 East Street, Farnham, Surrey.
