Birth of Ernest Richard Baker in FreeBMD in April-June 1895 in Hambledon (2a 158) which included Dunsfold.

In the 1901 census as Ernest R Baker aged 5, born in Bramley, Surrey, and living with his parents (Allen and Elizabeth) and brother (Charles F) at Birtley Farm, Dunsfold, Bramley, Surrey.

The family moved from Dunsfold to Dorking between 1908 and 1910 from the births of Margaret and Edward.

In the 1911 census as Ernest Richard Baker aged 15, and living with Allen and Elizabeth (parents?), Charles Frederick and Edward George (brothers?) and Ellen Ethel, Emily Edith, Margaret Rose and Mary Elizabeth (sisters?) in Dorking, Surrey.

There is an entry in Ancestry British Army WWI Service Records, 1914-1920 for Ernest Richard Baker of Ranmore Farm , Dorking, Surrey, father Allen Baker. He attested on 24 August 1915 at Coventry aged 20 years 94 days. His employment was a chauffeur, and he joined the Amy Service Corps (Motor Transport) as 119467:

He joined for duty on 27 August 1915 at Hitchin, Hertfordshire, he was at home (i.e. in the UK) until 5 October 1915 when he joined the Expeditionary Force in France. He was granted leave 26 August 1917 to 5 September 1917 and 18 September 1918 to 2 October 1918. He was awarded the 1914/15 Star, British War Medal and Victory Medal. On 8 February 1919 he signed that he was not suffering from any disability due to service. He was demobilized on 12 March 1919 at Woolwich Dockyard and transfered to Class 2 Army Reserve.

There is an entry in Ancestry British Army WWI Medal Rolls Index Cards, 1914-1920 for Ernest R Baker, a private in the Army Service Corps Number M2/119467 awarded the 1915 Star serving in France from 6 October 1916 and the British War and Victory Medals, and was class 2 from 12 March 1919.

His wife died in 1979 in Braintree.
