Two entries in Ancestry All London, England, Church of England Births and Baptisms, 1813-1917 for William Hindson Ansell baptised 26 October 1836 at Camberwell St George, Southwark, parents John and Emily Ansell. "16 Septm 1832 Oct 26 William Hindson, parents John a painter, and Emily Ansell of Pitt Street". His brother Samuel and two sisters Ann and Caroline were baptised at the same time.

In the 1841 census as William H Ansell aged 9, born in Surrey, and living with John and Emily (parents?), Alfred and Samuel (brothers?), Ann, Caroline and Emilia (sisters?) and William (cousin, son of a William Ansell?) in Pitt Street, St Giles Camberwell, Surrey.

In the 1851 census as William H Ansell aged 18, born in Camberwell, Surrey, single, an upholsterer's porter, and living with his parents (John and Emily), brother (Samuel) and cousin (William) at 2 Ansell Cottage, Pitt Street, St George Camberwell, Surrey.

No. 486 April 8th William Hindson Ansell of Full age, a Bachelor and Painter of Anns Place, Lant Street, father John Ansell a Painter, and Mary Ann Smith of Full age, a Spinster of Anns Place, Lamb Street, father Robert Smith, a Pipe Maker. I cannot locate the family in the 1861 census but he appears to have lived in 92 Wyndham Road and been a house painter from this childrens' baptism entries.

In the 1871 census as William Ansell aged 50 (sic - in the index, illgible on the original), born in Camberwell, Surrey, painter and paper hanger, and living with his wife (Mary Ann), three sons (George, John and William), and five daughters (Alice, Carolina, Emily, Hannah and Mary Ann) at 92 Wyndham Road, Camberwell, Surrey.

In the 1881 census as William H Ansell aged 48, born in Camberwell, a painter and paper hanger, and living with his wife (Mary Ann), three sons (George, John H and William) and two daughters (Alice and Caroline) at 92 Wyndham Road, Camberwell, London.
