There are two possible entries for the birth of Alfred Adams in FreeBMD, but neither has the middle letter S (in the 1901 census there are two entries for Alfred aged 2 and born in Deptford - Alfred and Alfred S): Alfred Edward born October-December 1898 (1d 985) and Alfred Victor born April-June 1899. However the Ancestry WWI Records give the father of Alfred Victor as Henry Adams.
In the 1901 census as Alfred S Adams (S on the original) aged 2, born in Deptford, London and living with his parents (William and Ada), two bothers (Kesthald J (Reginald) and Williams (William S)), and three sisters (Alice M, Hilda G and Nelly M) at 32 Bruce Road, Bromley, London (off B140 Devons Road).
Alfred Edward Adams was my second cousin once removed.
