Matthew Ackroyd (Acroyd, Haycroyd) 1815-1857
Marriage of Thomas Ackroyd and Hannah Hodgson in the IGI on 26 November 1812 in Lastingham, Yorshire.
I can only identify one child, Matthew christened in Kirby Moorside.
However a William Ackroyd, son of Ann Ackroyd was christened in Kirby Moorside on 29 May 1833 - was Ann a daughter?
There is an entry in the 1851 census for a James Ackroyd born in Lastingham in about 1794 and living with his family in Lofthouse, Guisborough - was he a brother?
GenUK has a list of inhabitants in the Rosedale area (which includes Lastingham) in the 1800s including Ackroyds, Acroyds and Hodgsons, but I cannot identify Thomas or Hannah in this list, and their wedding is not included.
Ian Ackroyd has sent me an email giving the following information from the copy of the entry of marriage for Mathew Ackroyd and Elizabeth Clemishaw on the 14 January 1839 at the parish church of Knaresborough Mathew Ackroyd married Elizabeth Clemishaw. His father was Thomas Ackroyd employed as a labourer. The marriage was witnessed by David Clemishaw and Mary Hawksby.
Lastingham is in the southern Yorkshire Moors near Hutton-le-Hole and Kirkby Moorside is 5 miles SW on the A170.
Thomas Ackroyd was the father-in-law of Felicity's second great grandaunt, Elizabeth Clemishaw.
