There is also an entry in FamilyHistoryOnline for the birth of James Absalom on 31 May 1836, parents David Absalom, employed as a cordwainer born at All Saints, Newcastle, and Suannah Lowhart, daughter of Christopher, a collier, born at Longbenton, and his christening on 19 June 1836 at Hood Street Methodist, Newcastle.

In the 1841 census as James Absalom, aged 5, born in Northumberland and living with David Absalom (father?), Susan Absalom (mother?), Christer, David and John Absalom (Brothers?) at Smith's Ropery, All Saints, Byker, Northumberland.

I cannot find an entry in the 1851 census but was he Thomas Absalom aged 14, born in Newcastle, employed as a coal miner putter, and living with his parents (David and Susannah), four brothers (Christopher, David, John, and Matthew), and sister (Susannah) at Wapping, Longbenton, Northumberland. Thomas does not appear with the rest of the family in the 1841 census, and I cannot find any entry for him.

In the 1861 census as James Absoland (sic), aged 24, born in Newcastle, unmarried, employed as deputy overman in a coal mine, and living with his parents (David Absolend and Susannah Absoland), five brothers (Christopher, David, Matthew, Robert and William Lowther Absoland), and three sisters (Elizabeth, Margaret and Susannah Absoland) at West Cramington, Northumberland.

In the 1871 census as James Absalom aged 34, born in Cramlington, Northumberland, employed as a coal miner, and living with his wife (Isabella), and three daughters (Dorothy, Elizabeth, and Susanna) at New Cramlington Collery, Northumberland.

In the 1881 census as James Absalom aged 45, born in Newcastle, employed as a coal miner, and living with his wife ( Isab.), daughter (Elizbth), and son (George) and a lodger George Lowither (aged 19, born in Cramlington, unmarried and employed as a journeyman grocer - I think this is George Lowther, a relative of his mother) at 8 Quality Row, Cramlington.

In the 1891 census as James Absalom aged 53, employed as a coal miner, born in All Saints, Newcastle on Tyne, and living with his wife (Elizb (sic - in the index, the original is illegible)), son (James and daughter Elizabeth) at Cross Row, Cramlington.

His wife died in 1893

In the 1901 census as James Absalom aged 64, born in Newcastle upon Tyne, a retired coal miner, widowed, and living with his son (James) and daughter (Elizabeth) in 4 rooms at 25 East View Avenue, Cramlington.
