There is an entry in the FreeBMD for Elizabeth Absalom in January-March 1865 in Tynemouth (10b 218) which included Horton.
Entry in the 1871 census for Elizabeth Absalom aged 6, born in Horton, Northumberland, and living with her parents (Benjmain and Elizabeth), two brothers (John and Robert although there is no relationship given in the latter's case), and two sisters (Emily and Jane) at 10 St. Georges? Street, Cowpen, Northumberland
Her father died in 1880.
In the 1881 census as Elizabeth Absolam (sic - on original as well as in the index) aged 15, born in Cowpen Quay, Northumberland, employed as a net worker/maker, and living with her mother (Elizabeth Absolam), brother (John), two sisters (Emily and Margaret Chisholm) and niece (Paulina Absalom (Chisholm)) at 26 Soulsby St, Cowpen.
Entry in FreeBMD for the marriage of Elizabeth Absalom and James Mills in July-September 1884 in Tynemouth (10b 239).
In the 1891 census as Elizabeth Mills aged 26, born in Blyth, and living with her husband and son (James) in one room at 12 Clive Street, Cowpen (four other families were at the same address including her parents-in-law James and Jane mills).
The 1901 census is very confusing. The original is very easy to read. There is an entry for Elizabeth Mills aged 36 (6 in the index), born in Blyth and living with her husband BUT his name is John Mills!, and six sons (Edward, John Geo, Matthew, Richard, Robert and William) and two daughters (Georgina and Lily) plus her BROTHER-IN-LAW James Mills and widowed mother-in-law (Jane Mills) in three rooms in York Street, Cowpen. James Mills is SINGLE, but is about the correct age for her husband from the 1891 census. These children correspond to the children of John Mills and Emily Ann Mills nee Yellup in the 1891 census, and there is an entry for the death of Emily Ann Mills in 1899. I believe that Elizabeth and James and his widowed mother moved in to live with John after the death of his wife, but whoever completed the census form was confused as to who Elizabeth's husband was.
Elizabeth Absalom was the second cousin of Susannah Emily Absalom, the wife of George Fullick, my third cousin twice removed.
