In the 1841 census as Christopher Absalom aged 2, born in Northumberland and living with David (father?), Susan (mother?) David, James and John (brothers?) at Smith's Ropery, All Saints, Byker, Northumberland

Entry in the 1851 census as Christopher Absalom born in Newcastle, Northumberland, aged 12, employed as a coal miner driver, and living with his parents (David and Susannah), four brothers (David, John, Matthew and Thomas), and sister (Susannah) at Wapping, Longbenton, Northumberland.

In the 1861 census as Christopher Absoland (sic) aged 22, born in Cramlington, unmarried, employed as a coal miner, and living with his parents (David and Susannah), five brothers (David, James, Matthew, Robert and William Lowther) and three sisters (Elizabeth, Margaret, and Susannah) at West Cramington, Northumberland.

In the 1881 census as Christopher Absalam (sic - in index, correct on original) aged 42, born in Newcastle, employed as a deputy overman, and living with his wife, adopted daughter Jane Absalam (aged 21 born in Durham, unmarried and unemployed) and his daughter Sarah J, and a boarder Charlotte A Jackson (aged 19, born in North Shields, unemployed but an ex pupil teacher) at 2 Cottages at Pit, Cramlington, Northumberland.

In the 1891 census as Chris Absalom, aged 52, born in Newcastle-on-Tyne, employed as a coal miner and living with his wife (Maria), daughter (Sarah J), and father(-in-law) Thomas Graham in 4 rooms at Pits Cottages, West cramlington, Northumberland.

In the 1901 census as Christopher Absalom aged 62, born in Newcastle, employed as a coal mine master shifter below ground and living with his wife (Maria), daughter (Sarah Jane), father-in-law (Thomas Graham) and a servant Margaret Hart (aged 15 and born in Cramlington) at Railway Cottages, Cramlington.

Denis Heydecker in Ancestry states that Christopher Absalom was born in 1839 in Longbenton, Northumberland, parents David Absalom and Susanna(h) Lowther, married Maria, and had two children Jane born 1860 and Sarah Jane born 1880.

Longbenton is 2 miles north east of Newcastle.

Relationship

Christopher Absalom was the uncle of Susannah Emily Absalom, the wife of George Fullick, my third cousin twice removed.
