I cannot locate a registration for his birth. The 1939 register gives his birth on 30 July 1888, and this is compatible with the other censuses. His parents married in October-December 1888 in Sculcoates.

In the 1891 census as Charles Abbey aged 2, born in Hull, Yorkshire, and living with his parents (Thomas R and Ann) in three rooms at 191 Waterloo Street, Sculcoates, Yorkshire.

His sister was registered in April-June 1894 in Sculcoates.

I assume that the church was St Matthew and St Barnabas which is very close to Gladstone Street and not far from Western Cemetery.
