Marlborough. Ernest C. Abatsis, 88, of Marlborough, died Friday, April 11, 2008. Born in Worcester, he was the son of the late Constantine and Margaret ( Brandt) Abatsis, and the husband of Barbara (Burns) Abatsis, who died in 1996. He lived most of his life in Marlborough and was educated in the Marlborough School System. He had been the vice president of the former BA Corbin Co. Marlborough and later worked for Inmont Chemical Co. and Atlantic Microwave. Mr. Abatsis served as a Staff Sargent in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II and was stationed in England. A call fireman for the Marlborough Fire Dept., he was an outdoorsman, hunter and loved his hobby of designing and building furniture, but must of all he loved his family. He is survived by his daughters Mary Ann Crane of Marlborough and Kathryn Beard and her husband, Joseph, of Hyde Park; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren; and his sister, Dorothy Driscoll of New Bedford. He was also the father of the late William A. Abatsis and Paul E. Abatsis and the brother of the late Anthony, John and George Abatsis. Funeral services will be private. Donations may be made to the Marlborough Fire Dept., 215 Maple St., Marlborough, MA. Arrangements are under the direction of the Slattery Funeral Home, Inc., 40 Pleasant St., Marlborough, MA.

Relationship

Ernest C Abatsis was the brother of Anthony Charles Abatsis, husband of Ivadell Helen Erickson, wife of Mauro Paul Duca, husband of Sylvia Mclaughlin Matthews, my half third cousin.
