Birth of John Croncher (sic - handwritten original can be read as Croucher) in FreeBMD in April-June 1856 in Petersfield (2c 122) which included Buriton.
Christening of John Croucher in the IGI on 6 July 1856 in Buriton, Hampshire, parents John and Susannah Croucher.
In the 1861 census as John Croucher aged 5, born in Burton (sic), and living with his parents (John and Susannah), and two brothers (Eli and George) and sister (Harriete) at Tanyard Road, Steep,Hampshire.
His father died in 1868.
In the 1871 census as MO (sic - I suspect the original is Jno) Croucher aged 15, born in Liss, unmarried, employed as a labourer, and living with his widowed mother (Susan M), two sisters (one unnamed - Susannah, and Hart - Harriet), two bothers (Eli and Geo) and two nephews (Wall Wm and Wm Sarah) in the vicinity of Adhurst Farm, Liss, Hampshire.
Marriage of John Gauntlet Croucher and Elizabeth Ann Watts in FreeBMD in April-June 1878 in Portsea (2b 827). (His brother Eli had also married in Portsea earlier that year).
In the 1881 census as John G Croucher aged 24, born in Petersfield, Hampshire, a whitesmith, and living with his wife (Elizabeth A), daughter (Rhoda S), mother-in-law (Sophia Watts) and sister-in-law (Harriett E Watts) in Upper Green, Liss, Hampshire.
Marina Garrison in an email states that John Gauntlett Croucher was a witness to the marriage of Frederick Watts and Mary Ann Baker on 8 September 1884 at the Holy Trinity Parish, Guildford.
This is the last reference I can find. I assume the family emigrated to Canada as his daughter married Eugene Bradford Cutts, had a daughter born in Canda in 1905, and died in Toronto in 1970 in 1896.
Buriton is 3 miles south of Petersfield.
