In the 1901 census as Agnes Marden aged 16, born in Frensham, Surrey, a dressmaker but not domestic, and living with her parents (James and Marian), two brothers (Henry and Reginald), and sister (Kathleen) in four rooms at Beeches Cott, Shant Lane (old name for Hale House Lane, Shant being what is now known as the Crossways, "Shan't" being "the most frequent phrase on the lips of the innkeeper's wife" - 100 Years in Churt by U H S Snow about 1970 page 8).
