Christening of John Croucher in the IGI on 18 September 1772, parents Thomas and Mary Croucher.
There is an entry in West Surrey Family History Society Surrey Marriage Index for John Croucher of Dorking and Mary Standwell of this parish in Ashstead St Giles on 2 December 1799.
The three children were christened at Brockham Baptist, Betchworth, Surrey, and Graham Bell gives their parents as John Croucher and Mary Haswell which I believe is incorrect because their children were christened in Dorking.
I cannot find an entry in the 1841 census.
In the 1851 census as John Croucher aged 81, born in Dorking, Surrey, widowed, employed as an agricultural labourer, and living with four lodgers (Peter Penfold aged 73, widowed and a groom, James Cheesman aged 45 and a bricklayer, his wife Jane aged 46 and son James aged 7, all born in Dorking) on the East Side of Back Lane, Dorking. This is somewhere on the north side of the High Street.
There is an entry in West Surrey Family History Society West Surrey Burials for John Croucher in 1855 aged 84 in Dorking. This was not in the new cemetery so I assume it was before November and at St Martin. However I cannot find an entry for the registration of death.
Lynda Jones/Elson has an entry in RootsWeb WorldConnect for JohnCroucher christened on 18 September 1772, parents Thomas Croucher and Mary Buckman.
