Entry in Ancestry British Army Service Records 1914-1920 for Eric James Croucher of 13 Omega Street, Portsmouth, aged 17 years 6 months, a dockyard clerk, signed for a short service on 22 September 1916 and was put on Army Reserve. On 27 April 1918 he joined the 113 Training Reserve Battn as 5/174130? until 7 September 1918 when his next of kin was his aunt Mrs J Evans of 13 Omega Street, Southsea. He was demobilised on 20 January 1919 from E MGC T Battn as 187856. He was transfered to 2 Amy Reserve on 21 February 1919, his home address unchanged.
