Notes

Christening of Eleanor Croucher in the IGI on 19 September 1824 in St Mary's, Portsea, Hampshire, parents John Croucher and Rachel.

In the 1841 census as Elenor Croacher (sic - in the index, Croucher on the original) aged 16, born in Hampshire, and living with John and Rachel Croacha (parents?), Charles, Frederick, James and William (brothers?), Sarah (sister?) and Thomas Taylor (aged 28, born in Hampshire and a tailor) in Upper Arundell Street, Landport and Southern , Portsea, Hampshire.

Her mother died in April-June 1842 in Portsea, and her father married Ann Moore in 1844.

Marriage of Eleanor Croucher and William Tarrant in FreeBMD in April-June 1846 in Alverstoke (7 38).

In the 1851 census as Eleanor Tarrant aged 28, born in Portsea, Hampshire and living with her husband (William), son (William John), daughter (Fanny) and widowed sister-in-law (Frances Day aged 63, born in Brading, and a proprietor of houses) at 4 Princes Street, Kingston, Portsea, Hampshire.

Her husband died in January-March 1855 in Portsea.

In the 1861 census as Eleonor (sic) Tarrant aged 37, born in Portsea, Hampshire, widowed, employment illegible and living with her son (William) and daughter (Fanny) at 13 Buckingham Street, Portsea, Hampshire.

Death of Eleanor Tarrant in FreeBMD in July-September 1869 aged 46 in Portsea (2b 275).

Her husbands date of birth is based on the almost illegible 1851 census entry - 11 in the index, but I believe 71 on the original which ties in with the age of his sister Frances.
