Birth of Sarah Young in the IGI on 30 March 1836 and her christening on 1 May 1836 at the Independent Or Countess Of Huntingdons, New Shoreham, Sussex (this refers to the Countess of Huntingdon's Connexion, a Calvinistic movement within the Methodist church, founded by Selina Hastings, Countess of Huntingdon).
In the 1841 census as Sarah Young aged 5, born in Sussex, and living with William and Sarah (parents?), Robert and William (brothers?), and Marthar (sister?) in East Street, New Shoreham, Sussex.
In the 1851 census as Sarah Young aged 15, born in Shoreham, Sussex, at home, and living with her parents (William and Sarah), four brothers (Jeannet, Joseph, Robert and William), and two sisters (Martha and Mercy) in East Street, New Shoreham, Sussex.
In the 1861 census as Sarah Young aged 25, born in New Shoreham, Sussex, and a housemaid living with Harry A Fuller (aged 26, single, born in Lewes, Sussex and a clergyman and schoolmaster in care of souls), an assistant master (William F Stevens aged 19, born in Goudhurst, Kent and single) and some 65 boys aged 8-15 in the High Street, New Shoreham, Sussex.
I cannot positively identify her after this - she may be the Sarah Young in the 1871 census aged 31, born in Shoreham, single and a Lady's maid living in Paddington and whom I cannot trace later, or she may be Sarah Bailey aged 30, born in New Shoreham and married to George Bailey in April-June 1865 in Steyning (2b 409) who can be traced through to the 1901 census. One must be the daughter of Daniel Young and Emma Susannah Nevell born 1840 and christened 3 July 1842.
There is an entry in Ancestry Public Member Trees for Sarah Young born 1836 in Shoreham, Sussex, parents William and Sarah Young, and the 1851 census entry.
Sarah Young was the first cousin once removed of Ellen, wife of Thomas Paine, my eighth cousin three times removed.
