Christening of Sarah Young in the IGI on 25 December 1833 at Kingston by Sea, Sussex, parents Joseph and Mary Young.
The family moved to Southwick from the christening of her brother Frederick in 1836.
In the 1841 census as Sarah Young aged 7, born in Sussex, and living with Joseph (father?), Mary (mother?), George and John (bothers?), Ann, Elizabeth, and Mary (sisters?) at Green, Southwick, Sussex.
In the 1851 census as Sarah Young aged 17, born in Southwick, Sussex, a kitchen maid, and living with Eliza Hunt (aged 40, born in Walworth, Surrey, widowed and a lodging house keeper), a housemaid (Ellen Austin aged 17 and born in Sompton, Sussex) and a parlourmaid (Elizabeth Mockford aged 29. born in Brighton, Sussex and single) at 121 Kings Road, The Palace, Brighton.
In the 1861 census as Sarah Young aged 27, born in Kingston, Sussex, single, a house servant, and living with Charles Edmonds (aged 43, born in Westminster, Middlesex, and a shoe warehouse man), his wife (Mary A Edmonds (Hounsell has been added as an alternative name), aged 35 and born in Brighton), his two sons (Fredk aged 2 and Henry aged 8, both born in Brighton), his widowed mother-in-law (Mary A Hounsell aged 66, born in Burwash, Sussex, employment illegible) an illegible relation? (Harriet Brook aged 10 and born in Brighton), and a lodger (Charlotte Woodley aged 74, born in London, widowed and of independent means) at 35 Kings Road, The Palace, Brighton.
I cannot identify her in any later records.
Sarah Young was the aunt of Ellen, wife of Thomas Paine, my eighth cousin three times removed.
