There are two entries for the birth of Charles Young in FreeBMD in July-September 1883 in Farnham (2a 120) and in October-December 1883 in Farnham (2a 131).

In the 1891 census as Charles Young aged 8, born in Frensham, Surrey, and living with his parents (William and Lydia), brother (William), and four sisters (Eliza, Emily, Harriet and Martha) at Shottermill, Frensham, Surrey.

In the 1901 census as Charles Young aged 19, born in Shotteswell, Surrey, single, a post man, and living with his parents (William and Lydia), two brothers (Fred and Harry) and five sisters (Eliza, Emily, Harriett, Jane and Martha) in Shottermill.

Marriage of Charles Young and Elizabeth Mary Schofield in FreeBMD in January-March 1908 in Staines (3a 39).

In the 1911 census as Charles Young aged 27, born in Shottermill, Surrey, a postman at Feltham Office, and living with his wife (Elizabeth) and two sons (Charles and James) at Trelawney Villas, Colonial Rd, Feltham, Middlesex. There is also an entry in the 1911 census for Charles Young aged 27, born in Shottermill, Surrey, married and living with his parents (William and Lydia), brother (Freddy), and five sisters (Eliza, Emily, Harriett, Jennie and Martha) at Rise Cottage, Shottermill Surrey, Surrey. However I believe that this is an incorrect duplicate entry with all the children listed whether or not at home.

His three children were born in Staines in 1917 to 1924.

Entry in the Register of Deaths for Charles Young in April-June 1967 aged 83 in Surrey N (5g 193).

Entry in Ancestry All British Army WWI Pension Records 1914-1920 for Charles Young born in Haslemere, Surrey, aged 31 years 11 months, living at 106 Bedfont Lane, Feltham, a postman, as No 3582 attested in Feltham as a private in Middlesex D on 3 September 1914. He was posted on 4 September 1914 and transfered to the Royal Fusiliers 11 10 September 1914 as No 7728. He was discharged as medically unfit for future service 16 April 1915 having served at home for all 226 days. His height was 5 ft., 8.5 inches, weight 135lb, chest 36+1inch, had brown eyes and black hair and was fit for service on 3 September 1914. His wife was Elizabeth Mary Schofield married at the Weslyan Chapel, Feltham, witnessed by Thomas and Mary Ann Schofield, and he had three children Charles William born 10 June 1908, christened 5 August 1908, James Ernest born 23 February 1910 and Bronwen born 17 August 1912, all in Feltham. He claimed pension on 24 August 1918 but disallowed on 8 July 1919. Medical report for C Young Pte 7728 11 Bn Roy Fus dated 9 April 1915 at Colchester 20 years ago he had a fall and dislocated a shoulder which was treated, but repeatedly dislocated on any attempt at use. Joined volunteers 16 years ago and had to give them up. Passed in Sept as fit but he made no mention of the repeated dislocations. Since joining he has put it out 4 or 5 times, the last 4 days ago. Swelling of shoulder from dislocation 4 days ago - limitation of movement.

Another entry gives his birth on 23 September 1883 in Haslemere, Surrey and marriage to Elizabeth Maud Schofield on 4 January 1908 in Feltham, Middlsex, a daughter, and his death in Feltham, Middlsex.

Relationship

Charles Young was the first cousin of Harriet Eliza Young, wife of Allen Henry Croucher, my first cousin twice removed.
