Calendar of Prisoners for Assizes, Hampshire Lent Assizes, 3 March 1817, (PCOM2/418) The following three cases under Charles Barton, Esq. Magistrate :- [...] Charles Tuckey, aged 17. (Acquitted.) Committed by John Acworth Ommaney, Esq. charged with having, in the night between Thursday the 27th of April and Friday the 28th, feloniously stolen and taken away from the parish of Headley, a dark brown horse, (being a stallion) of the value of five pounds, the property of Edward Lucas. - Warrant dated May 1.

The same information is in Headley Marriages adding he was unmarried, of Headley, and it was witnessed by Richard Tuckey (brother?) and William Bayley.

There is an entry in the Valuation of Headley 1822 for Charles Tuckey an occupier of a cottage, etc worth £3.

His daughter was born in Headley in 1825 and his wife died in Arford in 1830. I cannot find any later information for him, but his daughter was in Headley Workhouse in the 1841 census.

There are 13 entries in Ancestry Public Member Trees for Charles Turkey born on 21 March 1802 in Headley, Hampshire, parents John Tuckey and Sarah Woods, his marriage to Harriet Bridger (two giving the date as 1 September 1822 in Headley) and his daughter Eliza. Five give his death in 1830 in Arford, Hampshire. One gives his arrival in New York on 19 December 1823 although his daughter was born in Headley in 1825, and his death on 9 September 1853 in Alford, Hampshire, Massachusetts, USA. One puts Alford in Somerset, UK.

Relationship

Charles Tuckey was the husband of Harriet Bridger, first cousin four times removed of Cyril Larby, my second cousin once removed.
