Entry in Ancestry British Army WWI Service Records, 1914-1920 for Arthur Smith (much illegible) aged 36, born in Wethersfield, Essex, height 5 ft 6.5 inches, weight 143 lbs, chest 37.5+2.5 in, a houseman, next of kin Mary Ann Smith of Little Braxted, Essex, married Mary Bayles on 2 June 1900 at the Parish Church, Lttle Braxted, Essex, children Arther 1 August 1900, Alice 17 April 1902, George 8 October 1904, (no mention of John Henry) Emma 13 September 1908, Frederick 8 February 1910, Lucy 14 August 1911, Alfred 4 Decenber 1912, Frank 12 July 1914 all in Little Braxted. Attested 30 May 1915 as 19460 Essex Regiment, but posted to Expeditionary Force France as 102973 Gunner No 2 Section Royal Field Artillary, received Victory and 1914-15 Star 9 September 1920.
