In the 1871 census as Prince Shrub (sic - on the original) aged 3, born in Middleton, Sussex, and living with his parents (Henry and Hannah), brother (Harry), four sisters (Adley, Emily, Fanny and Riley), and a lodger (Mark Bister aged 18, born in Chidham, Sussex, single and an agricultural labourer) in The Hornet, Rumboldswyke, Sussex (this is the continuation of East Street, Chichester - the area is now known as Whyke)
