In the 1841 census as John Shrub aged 55 (rounded down to a multiple of 5), born in Headley, employed as an agricultural labourer and living with Hannah (wife?), John (son?), Eli (grandson - son on Eliza?) and Harriett Fullick (daughter of Henry and Elizabeth Fullick of Arford?, Henry being transported in 1835) at Lindford, Headley.

In the 1851 census as John Shoubb (sic - on the original) aged 69, born in Headley, employed as an agricultural labourer, and living with his wife (Hannah) and grandson (Elizabeth - sic Eli on the original) in Headley.

His wife died in 1851.

In the 1861 census as John Trub (sic - in the index, correct on the original) aged 83, born in Headley, widowed, employed as an agricultural labourer, and lodging with his daughter Eliza Fivefield (sic - on the original), her husband (George), their son (William), and another lodger (Eli Trub - Eliza's first son) at Lindford, Headley.

In the 1871 census as John Phrub aged 91, born in Headley, widowed, no stated employment and living with his widowed daughter Elizer Fifield, her son (William), her first son (Eli Phrule), and a lodger (Sarah Frogley aged 60, born in Headley, widowed,and kept by the parish) at Lindford, Headley.
