Birth of Emma Louisa A Payne in FreeBMD in April-June 1874 in St Saviour (1d 78). On a copy of the Entry of Birth No. 211 in 1874 in London Road, St Saviour, Surrey, Emma Louisa Alice Payne was born on 30 April 1874 at 13 Tower Street, Southwark, parents George William Payne, employed as a brass finisher, and Frances Payne formerly Downes. The birth was registered by F Payne, her mother, on 8 June 1874.
Her mother died in 1877 and her father remarried in 1879.
In the 1881 Census as Emma L. A. Paine aged 6, born in Lambeth, Surrey and living with her father (George W), (step)mother (Sarah) and three brothers (Charles, Frederick and Henry J) at 38 Clyde street, Deptford St Paul, Kent.
I cannot find an entry in the 1891 census.
Marriage of Emma Louisa A Payne and Thomas Edward Cowles in FreeBMD in June-September 1894 in Woolwich (1d 1917) created in 1868, included Plumstead and became part of London in 1889.
On a copy for the Entry of Birth of Edward James Cowles registered on 26 September 1895, her name is given as Emma Louisa Alice Payne and she lived at 44 Kashgar Road.
In the 1901 census as Emma Cowles aged 26, born in Deptford, and living with her husband (Edwd), two sons (Arthur and Edwd) , daughter (Ethel) and mother-in-law ( Emily Cowles) at in 4 rooms at 27 Kashgar Road, Plumstead, London.
Entry in the Register of Deaths for Emma L A Cowles in July-September 1946 aged 72 in Brentwood (4a 307). On a copy of Entry of Death Number 160 in Billericay, Brentwood, Essex in 1946 it states Emma Louisa Alice Cowles died in 29 June 1946 at The Retreat, Great Burstead. She was 72 and widow of Edward James Cowles, a smallholder of Tolangi, Church Road, Basildon. She died of cardiac failure, a general haemorrage and arteria sclerosis. The informant was M A Cowles her daughter, living at Tolangi, and was registered on 1 July 1946.
Buried in grave 110 at Vange with her husband.
Maureen (Curtis) Kristjanson has an entry in Ancestry Public member Trees for Emma Payne born in 1875 and her marriage to Edward Cowles in 1894 in Woolwich, Norfolk, and six children Arthur, Ella, Ethel Emily, Marion, Nellie F A and Edward James.
