In the 1851 census as Sarah Moor aged 5, born in Hagbourne, Berkshire, and a visitor with Jane Moor (her sister?) with Richard Child (her first cousin), John Child (her granduncle), William Child (her first cousin), and a servant Ann sadler (aged 28 and born in Hagbourne) in East Hagbourne, Berkshire. Her mother was living in Wallingford St Peter with her son William, married, but not with her husband.
In the 1861 census as Sarah Moore aged 15, born in Halwell, Berkshire, employed as a stay maker, and living with her widowed grandfather (John M), father (William), aunt (Sarah), cousin (John Wilson), and a servant (Ann East) aged 27, born in Benson, Oxon and unmarried) at 55 London Street, Reading St Giles., Berkshire. Her mother was in Abingdon St Helen Berkshire with her daughter Jane.

In the 1871 census as Sarah Luff aged 25, born in Durham in the index, Barnham, Suffolk on the original (Suffolk is added in a different hand), and living with her husband (William), and three sons (Albert Lewis, Auther William and Earnest Lewis) at 50 Lower Thorn Street, St Lawrence, Reading, Berkshire. There is an Alfred Luft in the same census aged 3, born in Reading, Berkshire, and living with his grand parents (Edward and Harriett), uncle (Edward) and aunt (Elizabeth) at Shortfield Common, Frensham.
In the 1881 census as Sarah Luff aged 35, born in Berkshire and living with her husband (William), four sons (Earnest, Herbert, Levi, Mark and ) and daughter (Rose) at Hillside, Frensham, Surrey.
Her husband died in April-June 1882.
