Gloria is originally a native of Lima, Peru. After emigrating to the United States as a child, she settled in Southern California, and has called Thousand Oaks her home for the last 40 years. Gloria has dedicated many years of her life to the study of nursing. After obtaining her RN from the Ventura College School of Nursing in 1983, she continued her education to eventually become certified in hospice care, case management, medical laser aesthetics, as well as Advanced Cardiac Life Support. Gloria has since become certified to administer both Botox® and Restylane® cosmetic therapies. She brings with her the experience of a long and diversified career in nursing. Gloria began her professional career in the Med / Surg Oncology Unit at Los Robles Hospital in Thousand Oaks, working there from 1983 to 1986. She then developed her leadership skills by co-founding Thousand Oak's own non profit Hospice of the Conejo, where she provided care and comfort to terminally ill patients from 1986 to 1990. After leaving Hospice of the Conejo, she went on to join the nearby Westlake Eye Surgery Center, working as a surgical nurse from 1990 to 1995. Gloria also gained experience in Cardiac Recovery Care, working as an RN at Pleasant Valley Hospital in Camarillo. More recently, Gloria worked as a Nurse Case Manager for Health Net of California, and also as a Nurse Consultant for the State of California's State Fund Insurance, performing clinical reviews for Workers Compensation claims. After being asked to join the AWHC, Gloria decided to move her home to Bakersfield, and eagerly joins Dr. Helliwell's team of excellent practitioners.
