In the 1841 census as Charles Madjicke (original illegible) aged 18, born in Hampshire, a labourer, and living with Wm Madjicke (aged 60, born in Hampshire, and a baker- grandfather?), Joice Madjicke (aged 60 and born in Hampshire - grandmother?), and Joseph Martin (aged 16 and born in Hampshire) in Cosham, Widley, Hampshire. His father was lodging at High Street Road, Portsmouth.

In the 1871 census as Charles Madgwick aged 48, born in Corsham, Hampshire, a labourer, and living with his wife (Elizabeth) and (step)daughter (Alice) at 18 Kettering Terrace, Kingston, Portsea, Hampshire.

His wife died in Fareham in 1880.

In the 1881 census as Charles Madgwick aged 56, born in Cosham, Hampshire, widowed, a pensioner (army), and living with his (step)daughter (Alice Fullick), grandson (Charles Fullick), granddaughter (Katie Fullick) and daughter-in-law (Annie L Fullick) - (all three I believe were children of Alice), at 18 Temple Bar, Widley, Hampshire.

In the 1891 census as Charles Madgwick aged 69, born in Widley, Hampshire, widowed, a general labourer and living with his two daughters (Alic and Katie - Katie was Alice's daughter who was his stepdaughter) at 1 Portsdown View, Widley, Hampshire.

In the 1901 census as Charles Madgwick aged 77, born in Cosham, Hampshire, widowed, a general labourer, and living with his stepdaughter (Alice Fullick) and three visitors (Kate, Ernest and William Jones - Kate was Alice's married daughter) in four rooms at 19 Havant Road, Cosham, Hampshire.

In the 1911 census as Charles Madgwick aged 90, born in Cosham, Hampshire, widowed, a pensioner, and living with his stepdaughter (Alice Fullick) in three rooms at Hill Side Cottage, High Street, Cosham, Hampshire.

Tim Fallick has an entry in Ancestry Public Member Trees for Charles Madgwick born in 1823 in Cosham. Another entry gives his birth in 1822 in Widley, Hampshire, his marriage to Elizabeth Fullick on 4 November 1878 in Hampshire, a daughter Alice, and death in March 1912. Ann Mckay adds the place of marriage as The Parish Church, Portsea and a second daughter Kate. Another gives the date of birth as 21 July 1822 in Cosham, Wymering, Hampshire, parents William and Ann Madgwick, and death in February 1912 in Cosham, Hampshire. Dean Madgwick adds he "enlisted 9 10 1847 onboard Victory, left in 1859" three children (Charles, Henry and Elizabeth (which I believe are incorrect as they were born before he was 12) and burial on 29 February 1912 in Widley.

Wymering and Cosham are just north of the A27/M27, and Widley a mile north up the A3.

Relationship

Charles Madgwick was the husband of Elizabeth Fullick, my first cousin three times removed.
