In the 1871 census as Arthur Kenney aged 8 months, born in Wrexham, Denbighshire, and living with his parents (William and Jane), five brothers (Alexander L,Blanchall L, Henry J, Walter J and William H) and two sisters (Catherine A and Lizzie K) in the Militia Depot, Regent Street, Wrexham Regis, Denbighshire, Wales.

In the 1881 census as Arthur Kenny aged 10, born in Wrexham, Denbighshire, Wales, and living with his parents (William and Jane), three brothers (Alexander, Herbert David and Walter James) and two sisters (Catherine Anne and Lizzie Thomasina) in the 23 Brigade Depot, Hightown, Wrexham Regis, Denbighshire, Wales.

In the 1891 census as Arthur Ranny (sic - in the index, Kenny on the original) aged 20, born in Wrexham, Denbighshire, Wales, and a waiter living at 30-35 Pall Mall, St James Westminster, London. Some 70 people, mainly single were living at this address which appears to be a hotel or club.

"1899 Marriage solemnized at St James Pentonville in the Parish of Clerkenwell in the County of London 231 May 7th 1899 Arthur Kenny aged 27, a bachelor and servant, father William Kenny (deceased), a soldier, and Ada Elizabeth Beale aged 24, a spinster, father Henry Beale, a ostler, both of 45 Penton Place, Married in the Church aforesaid according to the Rites and Ceremonies of the Established Church after Banns in the presence of Henry Beale, Rose Beale and Edward Hasell.

At the death of his son in 1900 at 45 Penton Place, Clerkenwell he is stated to be a librarian.
