There is a submitted entry in the IGI for Wyllya Fyge on 4 August 1534, parents Thomas Tyge (sic) and Mrs Thomas Fyge. The unspecified event could be his father's death.
The following are entries in the Winchester Pipe Rolls:
1533 William Fyge paid 13/4 for a toft called Keynes Acre, a messuage and toft called Herne House and for Kitts, by surrender of John Abbot. This land was on the south side of the road opposite the present houses called Hurne.
1536 Thomas Woodman paid 5/6 for a messuage and 3d for land called 'Smyths' which fell into the Lord's hands by surrender of William Figge.
1538 John Helyott paid 13/4for a messuage called 'Herons' and 2 tofts called Kitts and High Kytts, by surrender of William Figg (John Abbot and his wife Alice to have it for their lives?). The 1552 Survey shows that this Kitts was near Hearn Farm but at this time the area between Hearn and present Barford was called Barford.
1546 Thomas, son of William Fygge, paid an unknown amount for a messuage called Stondland and a fulling mill.
There is an entry in Headley Burials for Wyllyam Fygge on 17 May 1545 aged 60 - his birth is calculated from this entry.
William Figg was my eleventh great granduncle.
